Gwdihw with Guildford Peasants, 2019 In 2019, Gwdihw was set for demolition when a community effort resisted via squatting. We were grateful to be among the last people to capture the essence of Gwdihw before its needless & undignified destruction

Gwdihw was an indie music venue situated in Guildford crescent terrace; a historic piece of 19th century architecture - the only piece of the original Victorian Cardiff left standing. Despite this, the Rapport family ordered its demolition. In 2023, construction company they were using (Galliford Try) illegally knocked down the facade of the buildings without planning permission, and Cardiff council failed to hold them to account for this; essentially opening the flood gates for any fucker to rip down whatever they want, no matter the cultural imnportance, & get away with it. As of November 2024, a company called Lloyds Living has bought the site, and intends to build a 31-storey eyesore there
